Description

Condition Census 1836 Quarter, B-3, MS64

1836 25C MS64 NGC. B-3, R.1. The eagle has a tongue, the olive stem is high above the right side of the C in denomination, and the top arrow shaft is thin on the reverse of the B-3, the most available die pairing for the year. This piece is unusual in that show early die stages on both sides of a die that was, clearly, long in use. This Condition Census (according to Steve Tompkins) example shows lovely pinkish-gold coloration deeper at the rims, with silver-gold centers and glints of iridescence. The strike is bold, and mentionable contact is absent. Census: 16 in 64, 0 finer (7/10).
