Description

1837 Early Quarter, B-2, MS65
Conditionally Scarce, CAC Endorsed

1837 25C B-2, R.1, MS65 PCGS. CAC. Tompkins Die State 1/1. Struck from polished dies, this Browning-2 example shows no evidence of die clashing on either the obverse or the reverse. The B-2 variety ranks as the most-available of six 1837 die pairs. The 252,400-piece production helps make this an attainable Bust quarter at the Gem Uncirculated level. Lightly toned surfaces display vertical die polishing lines on the obverse, while the reverse includes subtle iridescent colors across semireflective fields. The strike is sharp except at stars 4 through 7 and at Liberty's cap -- as usually seen on even high-grade B-2 examples. Frosted central motifs contrast against the surrounding fields for bold eye appeal. Population: 14 in 65 (2 in 65+), 7 finer. CAC: 4 in 65, 3 finer (2/25).
