Description
Satiny B-3 1837 Quarter, MS64
1837 25C MS64 NGC. B-3, R.4. In addition to the usual identifiers for this variety, the most distinctive one is an almost rim-to-rim die crack from the D in UNITED to above the E in STATES. This is the finest B-3 we have offered at public auction since we sold an MS66 (surely the finest known) in 2005. The bright, satiny mint luster on this piece is almost completely brilliant. The striking details are uncommonly sharp, one might say full, except for localized softness on several of the hair curls. A clean, upper-end coin that is suggestive of an even higher grade.(Registry values: P1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23S4, PCGS# 5356, GSID# 5094)
