1838 B-1 Bust Quarter, MS64
Final-Year Type Coin
1838 25C B-1, R.1, MS64 NGC. Tompkins Die State 3/4. A hint
of tan-gold and ice-blue toning graces lustrous and pleasing
surfaces. Remarkably unabraded save for one tick centered beneath
the A in STATES. The centers are crisply struck, though the stars
are generally indistinct. 1838 was the end of the line for the
Capped Bust quarter, although Reich's design lasted an additional
year on the half dollar. Encapsulated in a circa-2000 holder.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23S5, Variety PCGS# 39015, Base PCGS# 5357, GSID# 393250)
