1838 Capped Bust Quarter, B-1, MS64
Richly Toned and Lustrous
1838 25C B-1, R.1, MS64 PCGS. CAC. The only dies for the
year, if one does not count the Seated type, also struck in 1838.
This is a thoroughly lustrous near-Gem, awash in ocean-blue, rose,
and apple-green colors. Well-struck, the major devices are
intricate, and only stars 6 and 7 do not possess clear centrils. A
small mark on the cheekbone is noted for pedigree purposes.Ex: Logan and Steinberg Collections (Bowers and Merena, 11/2002), lot 1318; Dallas Signature (Heritage, 12/2005), lot 605.
