End of Capped Bust Type

1838 25C MS64 NGC. B-1, R.1. The final die variety before replacement by the Seated type. The dusky obverse has a tan-brown and silver-gray center framed by forest-green and lilac-red. The reverse is flashy and lightly toned despite peripheral peach patina. A well preserved and satiny near-Gem. Census: 18 in 64 (1 in 64+), 6 finer (1/14).
