From The Andre Constantine Dimitriadis Collection. Ex Dreesmann Collection, Part II (Spink & Sons, London, July 2000), lot 400; privately purchased from J. Schulman, May 1978.

Late in his reign, Justin I felt his health failing and adopted his nephew as co-Augustus to solidify the succession. The young man ascended the throne as Flavius Justinianus, thus launching the reign of the greatest of the early Byzantine rulers. The joint reign lasted barely five months and produced only a handful of coins depicting both rulers; two rare surviving examples of differing varieties from the Dimitriadis Collection are herein offered.

This coin from the Dimitriadis Collection has been issued a photo-certificate by NGC. It may be sent in for encapsulation after the auction at the request of the buyer, free of charge. E-mail if you would like to utilize this option.
