    Justinian I the Great (AD 527-565). AV solidus (22mm, 4.45 gm, 6h).  Thessalonica, AD 542-552. D N IVSTINI-ANVS PP AVC, pearl-diademed, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Justinian facing, holding globus cruciger in right hand and shield with horseman motif on left arm / VICTORI-A AVCCC, Angel standing facing, holding globus and cross; star to right; CONOB in exergue. Sear 173C variant (staff surmounted by cross instead of staurogram). DOC 7 (Constantinople). MIBE 22. Metalf, Thessalonica 314 (same dies). Very rare. Light scratch in right obverse field. NGC (photo-certificate) Choice AU? 5/5 - 4/5.
