Description

Uncertified Half Eagle Blank Planchet. Second Process--after the blank planchet was stamped out of the sheet of rolled metal, the planchets were upset and a rolled or turned edge was placed on the planchet. This is an intermediate step that took place before the restraining collar held the second process planchet, and the dies and collar imprinted the planchet with the design and edge reeding that would turn it into a coin. Again, of the highest rarity and importance to error collectors. Ex: 1963 FUN Sale, lot 4337, where it was estimated at $1,000. (PCGS# 10369)
