1853 $1 Liberty Octagonal 1 Dollar, BG-505, R.4, MS63 NGC.
Die State I. The G in GOLD is retrograde, characteristic of this
early Frontier, Deviercy & Co. variety. An orange and sun-gold
representative that boasts a bold strike and moderately reflective
fields. Unmarked, although a pair of minor retained laminations are
noted near the date. BG-505 was likely paid out as change, since a
majority of certified examples are in circulated grades. Census: 2
in 63, 2 finer (6/14). (NGC ID# 2BL2, PCGS# 10482)
