1870 Robert Gray Round Liberty Dollar, MS62
1870 $1 Liberty Round 1 Dollar, BG-1203, Low R.5, MS62 NGC.
State I. Early die state examples, such as this one are considered
very rare. The Robert Gray design uses an undated stock reverse.
Unlike many California fractionals, the fields on this piece are
only moderately reflective, not deeply so as often seen. Medium
density golden-orange color shows the occasional dash of lilac
intermixed. A few shallow abrasions explain the grade. (NGC ID# 2C42, PCGS# 10948)
