BG-1208 1872 Round Dollar MS62
1872 $1 Indian Round 1 Dollar, BG-1208, Low R.6, MS62 PCGS.
A suitably struck yellow-gold example with flashy semi-prooflike
fields. A diagonal planchet crack (as made) from 10 to 5 o'clock
nearly bisects the obverse, and causes a slight wave to the flan.
BG-1208 is the sole Breen-Gillio variety with the word TOKEN in the
legend. This was a futile attempt to overcome the vigorous Federal
opposition to privately issued coinage that effectively ended
Period Two production. Population: 5 in 62, 4 finer (11/07). (NGC ID# 2C47, PCGS# 10953)
