Description

PCGS 1873/2 Indian Head Octagonal Quarter Dollar MS 62. BG-792, High R.7. A very rare variety whose numerous die cracks give an indication why this variety is so rare. In the BG reference it is speculated that the dies probably did not last more than an hour or two after striking. It is so rare than none could be located to photograph for the first edition of Doering. Deep reddish-orange patina with semi-prooflike fields. (NGC ID# 2BRC, PCGS# 10619)
