Description

1875 Round Indian Quarter Dollar, MS65
    Extremely Rare BG-848 Variety
    The Sole Finest Known

1875 25C Indian Round 25 Cents, BG-848, Low R.7, MS65 NGC. An extremely rare round quarter dollar made by Herman J. Brand of San Francisco in 1875. The Breen-Gillio reference cites just 12 different coins with the notation that a couple duplications may exist therein, a survival estimate that still stands unchallenged. This Gem example is the sole finest by two full grade points of just six pieces certified by NGC, while the finest at PCGS are four MS64 examples (4/15). Prooflike fields highlight consistent straw-gold patina, while the design elements show pleasing definition. A small planchet clip is present at 3 o'clock on the obverse. (NGC ID# 2BUB, PCGS# 10709)
