Description

Newfoundland. Victoria gold 2 Dollars 1870 MS61 PCGS, London mint, D-1, KM5. Variety with 3 dots. Mintage: 10,000. Scarce at the Mint State level, this impressive denomination features the well-coiffed portrait of Queen Victoria along with fully struck detail across the higher points. The apricot-hued planchet retains pleasing freshness for the grade, and with the exception of one or two more heavier marks, the fields contain rather minimal evidence of handling. From a popular, short-lived series, asserting a small mintage figure, and in a coveted certified quality.
