Chile: Republic 8 Reales 1840 So-IJ MS62 NGC,...
Description
Republic 8 Reales 1840 So-IJ MS62 NGC, Santiago mint, KM96.1, Elizondo-101. Mintage: 4,556. One of the "key dates" of this fantastic Chilean 8 Reales type, featuring the formidable Andean Condor on a Crown-size planchet. The entire series is elusive in Mint State, but this issue is particularly so, this being the sole finest representative graded by both NGC and PCGS combined. Though the planchet quality is not completely ideal, the glowing mint bloom and colorful iridescent toning are excellent, carrying this piece to a level of visual appeal currently unmatched among the certified population. From Colección Val y Mexía
