Description

Republic Peso 1867-So VF35 NGC, Santiago mint, KM141, WR-11, Elizondo-113. 1 Peso type. A famed one-year type that employs "1" instead of "Un" to mark the denomination as well as portrays that anatomically incorrect "Pechugón," or broad-chested condor. We note that the SP65 NGC Eternal Collection specimen that recently realized $114,000 also exhibited strike weakness in the central areas (Heritage Auction 3125, August 2025, Lot 31024). While this piece cannot compare to that Proof Specimen Gem example, the offering here, in comparison, would seem to punch well above its assigned grade.
