Republic "Volcano" Peso 1833 SANTIAGO-I AU50 NGC, Santiago mint, KM82.2, Elizondo-95. Mintage: 88,000. An truly expressive peso piece, presented with the active volcano exploding straight into the air. Struck in the year 1833 when the first Chilean constitution was published, a mere 23 years after Chile had gained their independence from Spain. In hand inspection reveals flashes of effervescence in the recesses.Metal: Silver
