Choice Specimen Late Imperial "Dragon in the Clouds" Dollar

Hsüan-t'ung Specimen Dollar Year 3 (1911) SP63 PCGS, Tientsin mint, KM-Y31, L&M-37, cf. Kann-227 (without extra flame). Extra flame, no dot variety. Seldom seen in such high a degree of preservation, these issues were among the final struck by the Qing Dynasty, with the Wuchang Uprising occurring in October of the same year. Dove toned at first glance, illumination reveals flashes of dandelion and cornflower in these airy expanses. One of just three Specimens in the PCGS census, and with as much visual character and flash as witnessed here, we expect a commensurate response.
