Astounding Near-Gem Qing Pattern Dollar

Kuang-hsü Pattern Dollar CD 1907 MS64 NGC, Tientsin mint, L&M-20, Kann-212, Chang-CH23, WS-0025, Wenchao-89 (rarity 2 stars), Chang Foundation-31. A fleeting two-year Pattern type struck as one of a handful of attempts at monetary reform in late Qing China, attempting to create unity in the weight standards that had been fragmented throughout the country. These issues are extremely desirable in higher states of preservation, and witnessed market appearance almost exclusively in lesser states of preservation than the current. Imbued with a deep patination that enlivens upon illumination, revealing autumnal hues to the central devices that intensify to indigo towards the peripheries, lending an advanced aesthetic caliber. Certainly among the more attractive and finest examples of this scarce type we've handled, nearing the peak of both conditional censuses, bested by just four specimens, all just a single-point finer, making this an opportunity not to be passed on by the most advanced of collectors.
