Highly Original Near-Choice Tsao Kun Dollar

Republic Tsao Kun Dollar ND (1923) MS62 PCGS, Tientsin mint, L&M-958, Kann-677, WS-0104. Civilian dress variety. A scarcer type from Tsao Kun's tumultuous yet fleeting reign, whose portrait here remains more gentle than the military attire version of the same series. Displaying not a hint of weakness and a most appreciable aesthetic caliber, punctuated by gentle amber silhouettes. Eventually deposed in a coup, these pieces struck throughout his single-year rule remain incredibly sought-after relics, especially when assigned Mint State designations as is the case here.
