Republic Yuan Shih-kai "Plumed Hat" Dollar ND (1916) MS64 NGC, Tientsin mint, KM-Y332, L&M-942, Kann-663, WS-0097. Struck for the inauguration of Yuan Shih-kai as Emperor Hung-hsien. A scintillating representative of an iconic early Republic type we rarely see at this level, whose quality most collectors only dream of encountering and perhaps the last "attainable" grade for an issue which rapidly becomes prohibitively expensive in technically finer states. Containing a charming argent patina, this acts both as an enticing framing device for the central motifs, all while creating a natural border to the coin's abundant cartwheel luster.
