Republic Yuan Shih-kai silver Specimen Pattern Dollar Year 3 (1914) SP64 PCGS, Tientsin mint, KM-Pn32, L&M-72, Kann-643, Chang-CH216 (Rare), WS-0166, Wenchao-858 (rarity 3 stars). By Luigi Giorgi. Among the great rarities of Pattern designs from the acclaimed hand of Tientsin mint engraver Luigi Giorgi, and arguably one of the most realistic effigies of Yuan Shi-kai, the 3/4 facing bust Dollars of 1914 remain in a league of their own. A fitting concept for Yuan Shih-kai's monetary reforms that sought to unify the nation's coinage by establishing provincial mints as branches of the Central Mint in Tientsin and excluding foreign silver Dollars from circulation, this design grants far greater humanity to the newly elected President, closely matching contemporary photographs and banknotes. Every detail from the individual hairs of his mustache to the striated lines on his epaulettes and the veins in the ears of grain on the reverse finds full expression, these set against flashy, slightly glassy fields decorated in an antique mottled patina. A highly challenging type made even more difficult to locate, as one of just three examples sharing the peak of the conditional censuses, and the only SP64 at PCGS, making for a clear top target of this auction.

冠軍分袁世凱「七分臉」樣幣

民國三年（1914）袁世凱像「七分臉」壹圓銀樣幣。SP64 PCGS。
天津造幣廠。由Luigi Giorgi設計。聲名顯赫的天津造幣廠雕刻師Luigi Giorgi曾製作樣幣大珍多不勝數，當中又以這款1914年袁世凱「七分臉」最為寫實逼真，蔚為奇珍。此幣緣起於袁世凱的貨幣改革，計劃在各省設立中央造幣廠的分廠，力圖統一全國貨幣並驅逐外國銀幣。大總統的容貌在此幣上顯得溫潤翔實，與相片和鈔票上的肖像十分相似。由鬍鬚上的每根毛髮到肩章上的條紋，乃至背面穀禾的紋理都在上展露得淋漓盡致。而銀亮明淨的底板包覆著陳舊的斑駁包漿，兩者相輔相成，形成鮮明對比。此幣本已稀罕難覓有如鳳毛麟角，評分更與另外兩例位居榜首，實為超凡逸品。此為PCGS中的唯一一枚SP64，絕對為是日拍賣中的瑰冠。
