Mint State "Auto" Dollar

Kweichow. Republic "Auto" Dollar Year 17 (1928) MS61 PCGS, KM-Y428, L&M-609, Kann-757, WS-1109. Two blades of grass. An undoubtedly iconic issue celebrating the effervescent modernization of the early 20th century. Here offered is a deeply-engraved representative of this so-often lightly struck issue. The surfaces, showing a glassy argent luster, are tempered slightly by a delicate overlying silver patina which evenly graces the obverse and reverse. Light handling throughout accounts for the grade, though, as no singularly significant distractions exist, eye appeal remains strong in its own right, yet more so when considered in the context of being tied to so remarkable a type.

Commissioned by governor Chow Hsi-chen to commemorate the completion of the first provincial highway in Kweichow, this issue departed from tradition by featuring the governor's motor car as the centerpiece of its design, a declaration not only of the import of Chinese modernization efforts, but of their successful execution. This latter commentary is convincingly illustrated on the motifs through the juxtaposition of the clear path on which the automobile drives with the untamed, grassy land that it borders, signifying mechanization's ever-futile attempt to usurp Mother Nature.

罕見原鑄狀態「汽車幣」

民國十七年（1928）貴州省政府造壹圓銀幣「汽車幣」。MS61 PCGS。
成都造幣厰。二葉草版。這枚標誌性十足的汽車幣是為了紀念二十世紀初中國一日千里的現代化進程而發行。此例鑄打深峻有力，幣面緞亮明淨，而一抹輕淡細的銀色包漿則稍掩其鋒芒，在正背面都顯得均勻有致。雖然散落著輕淡的觸痕，但對整體外觀並無大礙，外觀依然優秀出色，考慮到其超凡卓絕的歷史地位，更顯與別不同。
