Shanghai. Kuang-hsü silver "Shanghai Jubilee" Medal 1893-Dated MS62 PCGS, Li-pg. 42. 37mm. Engraved and presented to M. Wolff. NOVEMBER 17 - 1843 / OMNIA / JUNCTA / IN UNO Three coats-of-arms arranged in pattern, with wreath of roses, thistles, and shamrocks below // SHANGHAI / JUBILEE / "DOUGLAS JONES" NOVEMBER / 17 1893 in five diagonal bands, two inward-facing dragons as supporters with ship sailing right upon the seas, rising sun upon the horizon. Although we are not privy to any possible edge engraving due to the current slab configuration, other examples of the type contain, "PRESENTED BY THE SHANGHAI MUNICIPALITY" on the edge. A coveted and elusive Medal, here presented with nicely toned surfaces.

While not a true jubilee of the city, this Medal commemorates the 50th anniversary of Shanghai's international settlements, a concession originating from the Treaty of Nanking at the conclusion of the First Opium War.

1893年上海開埠五十周年紀念銀章。MS62 PCGS。
37毫米。此章是為呈獻M. Wolff而雕刻。正面盾徽上五行銘文為「SHANGHAI / JUBILEE / "DOUGLAS JONES" NOVEMBER / 17 1893」，兩旁飛龍相拱對視，背面則刻劃著帆船在海上游弋，遠方旭日初升。背面三處盾徽工整排列，下方伴以玫瑰、薊花及三葉草花飾。由於受封裝所隔，此章邊緣有否雕飾實在不得而知，其他同類型例子的邊緣都刻有「PRESENTED BY THE SHANGHAI MUNICIPALITY」。此章別具魅力，深受青睞，表面包漿賞心悅目。

上海公共租界在第一次鴉片戰爭簽訂《南京條約》後成立，此章則是為紀念其五十週年而發行。
