People's Republic brass Proof Panda Yuan 1985 PR68 Ultra Cameo NGC, Shanghai mint, cf. KM85 (this date unlisted), Cheng-pg. 28, 7, CC-81, PAN-28A. Mintage: 50. One of the great Panda series rarities, and the finest of just four examples of the type that we have handled, struck to a minutely small figure despite an original planned mintage of 1,000 pieces. Seemingly endless mirrors pervade this impressive survivor, contributing to the appreciable "Ultra Cameo" conditional superlative, with only a small handful presently certified numerically finer at NGC and none yet achieving technical perfection from that service.
