Description1863 H. Howe & Co., Hudson, MI, F-480E-2a, R.9, MS64 Brown NGC. This is the rarest of three varieties for the merchant, with only three or four known, and this lovely piece is probably the finest of that small population. Although designated Brown, this token has about 25% of its original orange mint luster.
Purchased from James Kelly (12/20/1941) for 35 cents. Said to be from the Virgil Brand Estate.
