1863 Smith Brothers, Addison, MI, F-3A-1b, R.8 MS65 NGC. The Smith Brothers are identified in the 1863 Michigan State Gazetteer and Business Directory as George A. and Legrand J. Smith. George Anson Smith was born at Bethel, Connecticut, on March 8, 1825, and died at Somerset Township, Hillsdale, Michigan, on January 29, 1893. He was married to Emma Maria Torrence, and they were the parents of four children. Both of the Smith brothers served in the Michigan Legislature, and they were active in local affairs.
