Description1864 M. Marx, Detroit, MI, F-225AW-4a, R.10, MS62 Brown NGC. Moses Marx was a Grocer & Liquor Dealer. In the Detroit city directories for 1863 and 1864 he is listed only as a grocer. His store was located at 94 Gratiot Street, a street where a number of Detroit Store Card issuers were located. Again, Stanton spelled Gratiot incorrectly as "Gratoit." This 1864 dated rarity is struck on a copper planchet using the 1047 reverse "collector" die. Some dark toning spots appear on the olive-brown surfaces of this token, with traces of red on each side.
