Description
Cleaned AU 1834 Classic Five
1834 Crosslet 4 AU 55 Cleaned. The Crosslet 4 variety is the undisputed key to the Classic half eagle series, and is, of course, many times rarer than its Plain 4 counterpart. VF coins are typical for this issue and survivors are seldom seen any finer. This lustrous, sharply struck piece is an absolute jewel for the type. A bit soft on the highpoints of the design, each side shows unfortunate hairlining, and the only mark worth mentioning is a curved scratch above the eagle.Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 8172, GSID# 8857)
Metal: 89.92% Gold, 10.08% Copper
