Description
1834 $5 Crosslet 4 PCGS. Second Head, Crosslet 4, Breen-6503, McCloskey 5-D, R.4. The PCGS number ending in .94 suggests Altered Surfaces as the reason, or perhaps one of the reasons, that PCGS deemed this coin not gradable. In our opinion, this coin has the details of an XF example with damaged and altered surfaces. This is a khaki-gold piece that has a minutely granular appearance. A few light scuffs in the fields are of little consequence. A very scarce Guide Book variety.(Registry values: P3, N3)Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 8172, GSID# 8857)
Metal: 89.92% Gold, 10.08% Copper

Note for clients in the European Union: This lot is considered by the European Union to be “investment gold”. We believe that it meets the criteria established in Article 344(1), point (2) of Council Directive 2006/112/EC and thus should be exempt from import VAT regardless of the selling price. Any questions or concerns about VAT should be addressed to your accountant or local tax authority.
