Description

1834 Classic Five Dollar, XF45
HM-1, Middle Die State

1834 $5 Plain 4, HM-1, R.3, XF45 NGC. Scalloped die cracks at stars 4 to 6 confirm the HM-1 middle die state. This die marriage accounts for about 10% of all 1834 Classic half eagles. A few small marks dot the fields and motifs, with a mark at Liberty's chin and some light abrasions between the mouth and ear. The curls and stars show grade-consistent high point wear. The reverse is Choice, with only minimal wear and a scattering of tiny marks.
