Description
Appealing 1834 Classic Head Half Eagle, Plain 4, MS62
1834 $5 Plain 4 MS62 NGC. Second Head, Small Plain 4, Breen-6502, McCloskey 4-C, R.3. The 4 in the date nearly touches the lowest hair curl. At first glance this piece appears to be a candidate for a higher grade, as the lime-gold fields show just the faintest touch of haze along with considerable prooflikeness on each side. Under a loupe the field haze resolves into light field chatter and undistracting hairlines, but the overall eye appeal is nonetheless quite high.(Registry values: P1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# E2KE, PCGS# 8171, GSID# 8856)
