Remarkable, Lustrous MS63 1834 Classic Five
1834 $5 Plain 4 MS63 NGC. McCloskey 2-A, R.2. This common variety has an obverse with the 4 tripled at the upper right side of the upright, although the repunching is difficult to see on this example. John McCloskey has identified nine differed die varieties of the 1834 Classic Head half eagles. Only three of the nine varieties are common, the normal choice for type collectors.This lovely Mint State example has satiny medium yellow luster and exquisite surfaces for the grade. Most of the design details are bold, although the hair details over Liberty's ear are weaker than the remaining features.(Registry values: P1)
