Description

1834 Half Eagle, Semiprooflike MS63+
Plain 4, McCloskey 3-B

1834 $5 Plain 4 MS63+ PCGS Secure. CAC. Breen-6501, McCloskey 3-B, R.1. First Head. An often-seen variety with a Script 8, wide 34 in the date, and no tongue in the eagle's mouth. Quality for the grade and eye appeal are both outstanding, explaining the Plus designation and CAC approval sticker. Deep orange tones adhere to the margins, while the centers are lighter yellow-gold with semireflective fields. The devices are practically fully struck, except for stars 3 and 4, and marks are minor. This Select Uncirculated offering would make an excellent first-year type coin for the Classic Head half eagle series. CAC: 9 in 63, 16 finer (8/18).(Registry values: P1)
