Description
Semi-Prooflike MS63 1834 Half Eagle
1834 $5 Plain 4 MS63 PCGS. First Head, Large Plain 4, Breen-6501, McCloskey 3-A, R.3. As with many 1834 Classic fives, the fields are prooflike. However, on this piece the fields are not completely prooflike as there is incomplete die polishing around part of the peripheries. Three long, scalloped die cracks are also seen through stars 4-6. The surfaces display a bright yellow-green coloration and are notably free from any singularly distracting blemishes. Well struck for the type with only the slightest softness noted on Liberty's hair curls. Population: 45 in 63, 43 finer (11/04).(#8171) (Registry values: P1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# E2KE, PCGS# 8171, GSID# 8856)
