Description
PCGS 1834 Plain 4 MS 63. Unlike the Capped Bust Left series which preceded it, the reduced weight and fineness in the Classic design by Kneass caused these coins to circulate widely, and today mint state pieces are very difficult to locate. This is a commanding coin that has cartwheel luster and light reddish patina at the peripheries. The strike is a bit soft in the centers (as often seen) and there are a few small abrasions scattered about that account for the grade. Sure to be of great interest to gold type collectors.
