Description

1834 $5 Plain 4 MS62 NGC. The first-year 1834 was produced to the extent of 657,460 pieces, and the Plain 4 is the more common of the two varieties. While circulated representatives are easily obtainable, Mint State coins are scarce relative to the number of high grade type collectors in today's hobby. This is a lovely BU survivor with satiny, orange-gold surfaces and remarkably few distractions for the grade. The otherwise bold strike wanes in the center of the obverse and on the reverse over the eagle's left (facing) leg feathers.
