1835 HM-2 Half Eagle, MS60
Semiprooflike Classic Head Coin
1835 $5 HM-2, R.3, MS60 NGC. Eight die pairings exist for
the 1835 Classic Head half eagle, and HM-2 is among the three most
plentiful, ideal for collectors seeking a Mint State type coin.
This is a pleasing lower-end Mint State coin. Each side displays
rich straw-gold color with nearly full prooflike fields. Excellent
strike sharpness defines the central motifs, the details
intermingled with clash marks on each side. As the grade suggests,
moderate abrasions appear on each side, especially in the obverse
