Description

Uncirculated 1835 First Head Half Eagle

1835 $5 MS61 NGC. Breen-6504, First Head, McCloskey 1-A, R.2. The 5 in the denomination is fully beneath the eagle's lowest arrow feather, and LIBERTY is awkwardly engraved. Well struck for the type, and bright luster swirls about the borders and devices. Only the faintest slide marks preclude a higher grade.
Ex: Mid-Winter ANA Signature Sale (Heritage, 3/1996), lot 6633, where it realized $2,310. (#8173)
