Description
Well Struck 1835 Half Eagle, MS62 PCGS
1835 $5 MS62 PCGS. Breen-6504, First Head, McCloskey 1-A, R.2. A needle-sharp piece with pleasing luster and attractive surfaces for this usually somewhat abraded grade. Struck from boldly clashed dies, with lines from the shield visible near Liberty's ear and a few letters in LIBERTY legible on the lower portion of the shield. A pair of strike-thru (as made) are noted near the eagle's beak; the lower strike-thru is remarkably similar to the letter Q and will serve as a pedigree for this high grade example.
