Description

1837 HM-2 Half Eagle, MS61
Conditionally Scarce

1837 $5 HM-2, High R.3, MS61 NGC. Frosty yellow-gold adorns this piece, along with some olive-gold overtones. The coin is well struck with sharp details on all facets. Abrasions are largely non-intrusive, though a small mark on the bridge of Liberty's nose is fairly eye-catching. The 1837 was produced using three die marriages and the HM-2 is the most available of the three; the issue as a whole is conditionally scarce at MS61. NGC Census: 25 in 61, 31 finer (8/26).
