1837 Classic Head Five Dollar MS64
1837 $5 MS64 PCGS. Breen-6512, Large Date, Large 5, McCloskey 2-B, R.3. A satiny, especially frosty Classic Head Half Eagle that displays pinpoint definition throughout. Only a few insignificant luster grazes are noticed on the obverse and the only mentionable distraction on the reverse is a wispy, vertical scratch through the eagle's beak. The 1837 is a scarcer issue in Mint State, yet usually brings little or no premium over the more available issues that precede it. Population: 15 in 64, 3 finer (1/05).
