Description

1838 HM-2 Half Eagle, MS63
Choice Green-Gold Survivor

1838 $5 HM-2, R.3, MS63 NGC. Gorgeous green-gold surfaces are loaded with satiny luster. Abrasions are minimal, and strike is razor sharp on both sides. The HM-2 die marriage has the D in the denomination centered under the stem. After the last 1838 half eagle fell from the press, the Classic Head design gave way to the Liberty Head design; another major design type would not occur until the dawn of the next century, in which time America had transitioned from agrarian republic to industrial superpower.
