Description

1838-D Half Eagle, VF35
Choice First-Year Dahlonega Issue

1838-D $5 VF35 PCGS. The surfaces are finely granular but retain pleasing olive-gold coloration and very few marks of any kind. As a first year of issue coin and a one-year type with the popular obverse mintmark, the 1838-D is a "demand scarcity" -- not really rare, but always high on series and type collector wantlists. This Choice VF example will fill a hole in a fine midgrade set.
