Description

Memorable 1838-D MS 62 Classic Half Eagle

1838-D MS 62 PCGS. A glorious 1838-D half eagle that has much in common with both the Chestatee and North Georgia pieces which we sold last year, in that it possesses remarkably lustrous fields and, save for incomplete radials on a couple of the obverse stars, excellent sharpness on the highpoints. Surface marks are extremely light and well scattered, none being significant enough to use for future identification. Easily of Condition Census quality for this immensely popular first-year Dahlonega issue. Population: 5 in 62, none finer (6/00).
