Description
Popular 1838-D Five Dollar in AU
1838-D $5 AU 55 Cleaned. The green-gold surfaces are somewhat glossy in texture from prior mishandling, but the eye appeal is suitable for this often heavily abraded issue. As implied, the surfaces are uncommonly free of sizeable abrasions, and the striking definition is bold throughout. The premier D-mint half eagle, the 1838-D is also the only issue in the Classic series that was struck in Dahlonega.Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 8178, GSID# 8882)
