    Description

    1838-D Liberty Five, AU Details
    Dahlonega Mint Rarity

1838-D $5 -- Improperly Cleaned -- NCS Details. AU. McCloskey 1-A, R.3. Both the 1838 Dahlonega Mint half eagle and its Charlotte Mint counterpart are rare, and they trail only the 1834 Crosslet 4 in scarcity for the Classic Head series. This D-Mint five is smooth and appealing, although cleaned at one time and lusterless as a result. A short mark on Liberty's jawline is the only notable mark. Bold design elements remain despite brief circulation.
