Description
1838-C HM-1 Half Eagle, VF Details
First Year Charlotte Issue
1838-C $5 -- Scratch -- HM-1, High R.4, PCGS Genuine. VF
Details. The 1838-C half eagle issue is among the first coins
produced by the Charlotte Mint, which distributed a total of just
17,179 coins. This example shows lighter yellow-gold coloring. The
strike is pleasing, only disturbed by the typical wear for the
grade. The scratch noted by the holder is easily evident under the
eagle's left (facing) wing.
