    Description

Near-Gem 1834 "Large Head" Classic Quarter Eagle

1834 Classic MS 64 PCGS. Large Head. There are two distinctly different design types of the 1834 Classic quarter eagle, Large Head and Small Head. The Large Head is considered the scarcer of the two, and this is easily the finest example we have offered in the past five years. The coin is amazingly well struck for a Classic quarter eagle with nearly complete plumage on the eagle and good definition on Liberty's hair curls. The fields are bright and semi-prooflike, as usually seen, and there are only the slightest abrasions on either side, none of which are worthy of individual mention. Bright yellow-gold color is seen throughout. Population: 14 in 64, 4 finer (11/96).
